If you've been following along then you know that I've done a wrap up each year which is posted here on #LINKEDINĀ and also on a little blog, zohlman dot com. In an attempt to keep things fresh, new, innovative and informative I'm listing my nine MAIN takeaways and one falsehood by what is arguably the second busiest week in my hometown, the 305, the Magic City #MIAMI
As a bonus, if you can identify the nine true statements you'll win a complimentary sports partnership consultation with me.
Here we go:
šļø My estimate is that 50%-60% of spectators on site were wearing some type of team merchandise. I recognized this more this year than ever.Ā
šļø The GP is not just the GP but a city takeover larger than any other year with brands and teams using various areas for announcements, promotions, fan fests and content creation. With Miami having so many various cultures, niche pockets and beautiful landscapes it encompasses every ounce of glamour, personality and attitude which is #FORMULA1
šļø The business networking was better than ever and it was incredible to meet with people from all over the world, various industries and personalities. In one suite I was in we had people in commercial realty, tequila company, international arms dealers, medical device sales and an auction house. The networking eventsĀ POSSIBLEĀ Brand InnovatorsĀ andĀ Soho House & CoĀ were leaders.
šļø Again, the female fan and follower group is growing and I wouldn't be surprised if the ratio get to 50/50 in the next three to five years.Ā
šļø F1 TV viewership in the US might be erratic but when the F1 movie is released next month that will boost the fan growth again and I believe will sustain it for the foreseeable future.
šļø Awesome to see so many brands get creative with their pop ups and activations around the city even without any affiliation to the race. I pulled out a few gems from some footprints I saw.
šļø The actual race was a great battle and so good to see the likesĀ McLaren RacingĀ at the top again and taking advantage of their rich legacy and history in the sport to align with new fans.Ā
šļø Influencers/content creators aren't going anywhere! Fans are rabid for their posts, brands are rabid to use them. Lean in or you're out!
šļøĀ F1 Miami Grand PrixĀ continued to crush the food scene with so many local favorites and flavors taking over multiple eatery areas. Sure, the prices were high but you're also paying for the best people watching in the US and A.
šļø I have 20 complimentary Paddock Club passes to the Vegas F1 GP if you're interested. š«¢Ā
